![]() ![]() If one isn't bothered with determining the truth, and seeks instead to simply win the argument by whatever means possible, it would be better for them to keep silent, lest they not only be uncharitable towards their neighbor, but lead others into scandal by their error (another mortal sin). Both secular and religious philosophers and theologians have backed this up in their writings for millennia. ![]() When arguing with someone in order to determine truth, you not only thoroughly research the other person's argument, but you seek to counter their argument off their strongest, rather than weakest premise. "Love your enemies," isn't an easy concept, and it's clear the SSPX is an enemy to many folks here, but that is no excuse to be uncharitable towards them. To persist in error once corrected, whether by ignorance or laziness, is not only morally wrong, but is mortally sinful in of itself. That is 100% truth, and is a verifiable fact. For example, I don't care how much one dislikes the society, or says they have "schismatic tendencies," the truth of the matter is they are not in schism. ![]() If the moderators don't want people promoting the SSPX that's fine, and well within their rights to do, but common falsehoods should be corrected. ![]() One doesn't have to be sympathetic to the SSPX nor attend their services to recognize blatant, unchecked columny. We will revisit this situation in a month to consider lifting the moratorium. Once this situation calms down, the moratorium will be lifted and the previous policy will remain in effect. However, in recent days with the SSPX disregard for the common good by defying restrictions on social gatherings which seems to have sparked a public battle between Church Militant and the SSPX, those sympathetic to the SSPX are even more fervent in defending the society to the point we cannot even mention the name SSPX without a seemingly organized barrage of SSPX apologists jumping into the fray.īecause of this, we are instituting a moratorium on any talk of the SSPX in the subreddit. We had to make this policy to prevent the constant attempts by those sympathetic to the SSPX in this subreddit to direct the faithful to SSPX sacraments, oftentimes by misrepresenting the status of the society and attacking the sacraments of those in communion with Rome. The sub has had the policy of disallowing the promotion of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX).ĭue to the canonical status of the SSPX, we do not allow direct promotion of the SSPX, especially as there are other legitimate Traditional Catholic groups like the FSSP/ICKSP, or over other legitimate practices found in Catholic churches and dioceses which are fully in communion with Rome. ![]()
